A poem for Halloween.
On one special October dark night
there’ll be a treat, a trick, or a fright
given to many a costumed youngster
hoping to find candy but no monster.

On Halloween night, one just might
encounter many a heart-stopping sight,
like a witch with warts on her nose,
straggly hair, and holes in her hose.

Goblins and ghosts hide from the light
of jack-o-lanterns burning so bright.
Only brave children prowl the street,
hoping fervently nothing bad to meet.

What causes this unusual, eerie scene?
It’s just children enjoying Halloween.
