A short story about a Teddy Bear in a gift shop. |
This is one of the first items I ever wrote on here. It was featured in Santana's JellyBean Juction E-Zine. I have revised it and learned how to give more details in a story. I do hope that you will enjoy this. Crystal unwrapped the new items for the gift store and put them on the shelves. There was a beautiful Victirian Doll all dressed in lavender and pink carrying an umbrella. She had blonde hair and blue eyes but what really caught Crystal's eye was a cute, brown furry Teddy Bear with brown glass eyes, black felt nose and a red ribbon around his neck. Crystal smiled as she hugged him and kissed him on the nose. "Don't worry you will find a home." Tim shed a tear not couldn't be seen. In the factory where he was made, the young girl who made him, had been in a bad mood. She threw Tim down on the floor and Tim wished he hadn't been made. Crystal was nice to him and Tim hoped that some little girl would make him her favorite toy someday. The days went by and no one bought Tim. He made friends with the stuffed green duck and two other Teddy Bears that were bigger then him. The Teddy Bear made by Steiff never talked to Tim. He felt like he was too good. The Victorian Doll never talked to Tim, either. Tim sat on the Rocking Horse at night and told him that he hoped someone would buy him. The Rocking Horse would laugh and tell Tim jokes but the Steiff Bear would tell them to be quiet. Tim would go back to his shelf and hoped for a home. The other toys got sold including the Rocking Horse and grouchy Steiff Bear. Tim didn't miss Steiff but he missed the Rocking Horse. He got to hug his friend the Rocking Horse before he left. The Rocking Horse was sold but didn't get picked up until the next day. Tim hugged him as he sat upon his back and they wished each other well. Some new toys came into the store. Some more porcelain dolls and Teddy Bears but they ignored Tim. They, too were sold. Crystal dusted Tim once a week and always planted a kiss on his nose. She wondered why he hadn't been sold. Tim enjoyed Crystal's attention and wished that she would buy him. Crystal had been an orphan and she felt connected to Tim. She didn't have anyone special in her life. She was only twenty and got the job in the gift shop as soon as she turned eighteen and she was able to live on her own and leave the Orphanage. She bought new clothes as she never had new clothes in the Orphanage. She had never been adopted and she remembered how she had felt when all her friends were adopted. It was a lonely feeling. She thought if Tim was real, he would feel lonesome and cry every night because no one wanted him. What Crystal didn't know was that Tim did cry every night because he wasn't sold, yet. Crystal was a very pretty burnette woman with blue eyes but she had dated two men and they weren't very nice. Crystal made her life the gift shop. Crsyal decided to put Tim in the window. People always walked by and stopped to look at the toys in the window. A few days later, Tim still hadn't been sold. One night, some teen-aged boys threw a brick threw the window. Tim's left eye was all messed up and so was his ear. He had an awful headache. Crystal was so heartbroken when she came to work the next day and saw what had happened. She picked up Tim and cried. Tim was crying, too. She sensed it. The police were called because of the vandelism. Nothing was stolen. A handsome policeman named Quentin filled out the police report and liked Crystal right away. He asked her out and she accepted. After the police left, Crystal told her boss that she wanted to buy the Teddy Bear. Her boss Mrs. Fulton gave Crystal the Teddy Bear along with a hug. Crystal took Tim home and patched him up as good as new. She hugged him and said:"Oh, Teddy. You are so real. I love you." She thought she heard Tim say:"I Love You, too, Crystal." Tim stayed on the couch with Crystal with her when she was home and in her bed at night when she slept. They were happy together. Crystal later married Quentin and he sensed that she and the Teddy Bear had a bond between them. Tim liked Quentin, too and Crystal's little girl she had later on loved Tim, too. Tim never had to worry about being lonely and unwanted again. ** Image ID #718867 Unavailable ** ** Image ID #763978 Unavailable ** ** Image ID #777468 Unavailable ** ** Image ID #963595 Unavailable ** |
