Poem for my wife's 70th birthday. |
| MY LOVING WIFE (on her 70th birthday) The years go by and you and I Continue to perform, A might bit slow, a creak or two But that’s about the norm. We’ve weathered storms and climbed some hills But never did we falter, When I consider what I’d change There’s nothing I would alter. You’ve been a faithful friend, my wife You’ve stuck through thick and thin, And never have I been inclined To think what might have been. And now you are a magic age, A full three score and ten, And if I had the choice to make I’d marry you again. My hope for you this special day Is happiness unending, Your dreams alive, your goals renewed, Our hearts in concert blending. Your love has been my guiding light, Your presence my foundation, You’re dear to me, I like you near My love needs no translation. And so you pass a milestone dear That marks the years gone past, It also marks the future And the hopes that you hold fast. So celebrate and lift a glass, Enjoy the day and visit friends, Because tomorrow we begin A future that is yet unpenned. |
