Amidst the waning hours of the year
watching with loved ones the final countdown,
an extracted promise between the cheers,
irreveccable vows to which they're bound.
Please scatter my ashes at Point State Park
from the bow of the Good Ship Lollipop,
when I am gone and tumbling to the dark,
the merge of three rivers my final stop.
Monongahela and Allegheny
become Ohio, then Mississippi.
Float my remains like pearl grey confetti
running down to the heels of the sea.
Celebrate my life with horns and laughter
drifting to the shores of the ever after.
Author's note: I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pa...and though I have been in Florida for 20 years...Pittsburgh is my heart's home. When I am gone I want my ashes returned there to drift through the three rivers, down the Mississippi, and out to the Gulf of Mexico...along whose shores I now live....full circle...poetic justice.
