Shadows

Shadows dwell within everyones past.

Do not cover me in shadows,
For their darkness slowly seeps into the mind
And wreaks havoc upon the soul.
Yet do not mistake my worry of destruction for fear.
For every night I sit and listen intently to the haunting lullabies
The hidden shadows sing.
But still, Do not cover me in shadows.

Do not cover me with your shadows.
For I have just finally escaped my own.
I ran towards the light of hope,
And with each hurried step I made
My shadows grew longer.
Yet when I finally reached the golden light,
And it shown upon the fear all shadows hold,
No sound did they make.
My shadows faded into the surrounding darkness
And began their wait for me,
I escaped my shadows,
So please, do not cover me in yours.
