Oblivious Humanity

What have we done to our world?

God looked down from Heaven today
And saw the mess we've made;
He saw the angry and the sick
The hungry and afraid.

He shook his head and marveled
At how tolerant we've become,
How accepting we are of terrible things;
How horror has made us numb.

Saddened by our lack of caring
And our tendency for war,
God heaved a sigh and began to cry
He couldn't hold back tears anymore.

And on He sobbed, and the angels too
But we weren't even aware
That these were teardrops, not just rain
So we continue this nightmare.
