Poem of a relationship gone bad, no ordinary fairy tale, but ends in happily ever after |
Some yesterday so long ago My heart sang perfect rhyme And you inspired the melody.... Once upon a time. Way back when I did believe Your love the golden rule That we would follow all our days, I played your little fool. Your Cinderella saw you as The prince and gave her hand Your promises then turned to dust In Never, Never Land. The pure white horse you rode upon Became my worst nightmare Then trampled every hope I had And left me standing there. The glasses colored softest rose That I was looking through Distorted all the flaws and cracks There in the heart of you. Mirror, mirror on the wall Red tear stains on the bed You force fed poisoned apples To your Snow White as she bled. Abra Cadabra wish her away Make her disappear Nobody saw the scars that you caused What you did year after year. Steal her ruby slippers You're the wizard there in OZ Have an affair, click your heels Convince her she's the cause. Tell her she's pathetic Your words will beat her down Then once she cries an ocean Push her in and watch her drown. You shot the deadly arrow Then went on your merry way I watched you go, the many thieves That stole my life that day. Not Mother Goose or Disney Nor Brothers Grimm could tell The wicked little stories That I lived inside your hell. But now the last page has been turned And I have closed that book I'll write a new self novel From the soul you never took. I'll open up the cover And my love will flow like wine It will begin with these same words.... Once upon a time. |
