A light so bright it shatters incandescent all around me.
Transfixed and amazed, I am bound by it's unrelenting beauty.
But is anything so pure?
To instigate such an overwhelmingly ocular interpretation?
It isn't clear why,
Our demeaning relegation is an abundant fuel for the fire.
Still we're blind.
And I can see there's no one left
Who can pierce the smoke and see the reason why.
And so we let our children's children fight
And die.
So there can be another day where people march in their own parades.
Let's all celebrate our corrupt meaningless victory.
We do what we're told because we're all so brave.
Fear cloaked in courage is the digger of the graves.
The light has nearly gone out,
But we still watch it flicker and dim.
Like puppets, we wait as our masters hesitate
To pull on a string and make everything more grim.
