18 and gone

I think just about every parent can relate to this. The stuff between ( and ) is mumbled under breath. It's my sarcastic side coming out.

I have 2 kids
and i love them so
but heaven forbid
i can't wait for them to go .... (to college .. yeah that's it)

they're both teens
with minds of their own
the fights between them
makes me groan ... (and growl ... and snarl)

I can't wait .... til they've gone to college
I can't wait .... til they are out on their own
I can't wait .... til they have some kids ... (hahaha i hope they have twins)
I can't wait .... til they are 18 and gone

They think they are adults
and can tell me what to do
i could go for a malts ...
when a day with them is through ... (yeah .. i think i'll have a beer)

they think everything is for the takin ...
i guess that is my just deserts ...
My back is aching ...
and my head just hurts ... (quit yelling .. i hear ya)

This is what keeps me sane ...

I can't wait ... til they are on their own
I can't wait ... til they get married
I can't wait ... til they're kids are teens ... (then they'll find out why i'm so grumpy all the time)
I can't wait ... til they are 18 and gone
