this poem tells of the devastation that occurred on 9/11 |
September 11, 2001, fire rained from the heavens, The twin towers shook, then crumbled into nothingness, This was a major disaster, no less! People jumped through windows, dozens of stories down Their fates were sealed before they hit the ground. Firefighters braved the towering inferno's wrath But their efforts were almost naught Many precious lives were lost instead, Because evil had reared its ugly head. A thick white smoke enveloped New York As commuters tried in vain to go to work. At home many sat petrified, glued to their set Little did they know this day they would regret. As the horrific scenes flashed before their eyes Some switched channels but like a recurring nightmare The images repeated, giving even more of a scare. Victims tried to make one last call Before the towers would eventually fall Loved ones listened in shocked disbelief and wondered why As their beloved bid a final, nostalgic goodbye. In a city of desolation, gloom and despair New Yorkers all rallied without fear And like the Phoenix rising from the dust They realized that rebounding was a must. Because like these United States, united we stand!!! |
