like a river
seems predictable
at best
flowing towards the ocean
for a much needed rest.

Mother Nature
took special care
to keep you in line
yet unfortunate things happened
jeopardizing your time.

You
as the major support
for us all
stayed  strong ‘til the rapids
wore you down for the fall.

Me
your tributary
will continue your lead
flowing steady and level 
controlling my speed.

Emotions
run rampant
like a storm so severe
‘til the change of the season
brings a new year.

Time
allows sorrow
which flows from the land
to be washed away gently
buried into the sand.

Beliefs
of reuniting
keep me focused and clear
that someday we’ll swim
in the ocean so near.
