Current Conditions Rant

As I gaze into the black mirror
The future is getting clearer
Nuclear skies open up
The rain is burning
Is this supposed to be our future
Is this us learning
From our mistakes and those of the past
Is this how are children are to live
Is this world going to last
Foul tongued dictators leading supposedly free countries
The phones are tapped
Computers being searched without us knowing
Is there anywhere to go to truly be alone
What is the price of freedom
So we give up a few rights created hundreds of years ago
By men far more intelligent than we could ever imagine.
All this to keep us safe
Safe from what
A generation is already being killed off
Just because it is on foreign soil doesn’t make it a worthy cause
Blood. Oil. Is there a difference anymore
As we line the pockets of the few
With the lives of the many
Does anyone stop to think
When is enough enough
Future
What future
Our future is condemned
What is left to live for except yourself
And you loved ones
We used to help our neighbors
Now we hide from them
Fear them
The days with a friendly wave are long gone
We stay locked in our homes with the shades drawn
So no one can look in
But more importantly no one can look out
What are we hiding from
Who are we to judge
What does color matter
What does nationality matter
Aren’t we all terrorists
Just because someone is white or American
Doesn’t mean they can’t be a terrorist
You don’t need a bomb to strike fear
If you ask me
All you need is a suit and tie
And an annoying smug look when anyone questions your actions
It doesn’t hurt to have friends in high places either
Or a famous father
