The night that changed my life forever
I remember when I had hope,
I remember when I had dreams,
But now whenever I close my eyes,
All I can hear are your screams,

I remeber the glass shattering,
Rember vaguly someone getting me out,
And thinking they should have left me there,
For it was you I couldn't do without,

Why didn't I go with you?
The night God took you home,
At least we could be together,
Then I wouldn't feel so alone,

All because one person,
Put themself before the rest,
If he hadn't been drinking and driving,
We wouldn't have laid you to rest,

I'm scared to drive at night now,
Sometimes its hard to get in the car,
Because no matter how I try to fight it,
The memories just never seem far,

I don't remeber the hospital,
Don't remeber the first couple days,
Just remember the anguish,
And desperate cries of your pain,

Life can be taken so quickly,
We had the world in our hands,
And I don't know why but I guess that,
God had other plans,

Your mother came to see me,
I didn't know what to say,
She told me to hold on and maybe,
We would understand someday,

But I still don't understand,
Why did it have to be you,
Why didn't I go with you,
When that gas tank blew,

How could I be so lucky,
And you be in your grave,
The one person I loved,
Was the one that I couldn't save.
