DEXTERITY

The swinging trapeze propels
through time and space, releasing
lead filled blades pointing
downwards, Scribble. Scribble. Scribble.

Words, lean and fit like
acrobats, line up, awaiting
their chance to grasp
the horizontal crossbars.

The blank page is transformed as
adjectives, verbs, interjections
and nouns perform upon
the flying trapeze. Prepositional

phrases jump off the
high platform, and like the
aerialist display amazing
stunts with the art of

language. The equilibrist
balancing precariously in hopes
of not appearing as just
another dangling modifier.
