Dallas sat down on the edge of her bed and gazed forlornly out the window at the thunder and lightning outside. Her mom and dad had gone out to another party agian tonight and had left Dallas all alone. Suddenly she heard a crash downstairs. Terrified she scrambled under her bed. After a good half an hour had passed she came out. Deciding that her cat must have knocked something over, she went to investigate.
Dallas arrived in the kitchen, where the noise had come from, but there was nothing there. After pouring herself a glass of warm milk she went downstairs to the basement to watch some T.V. She settled in on the couch and began to flick through the channels. Sensing someone watching her she turned around.
Through the basement window behind her she could see a man standing, just staring at her, holding a bloody knife in one hand. Dallas screamed and dropped the remote. She grabbed the telephone off the table beside her and dialed her mom's cell number.
" Mom!" Dallas exclaimed desperatly. " There's a man with a knife standing outside our basement window!"
" Honey," her mother replied in a terrified voice. " We don't have a window in the basement. We have a mirror."
