It's ludicrous how lying looks like a complicated art
but the truth plain and simple; albeit bitter, pungent, tart.
And while the agony that truth inflicts is perverse and grotesque,
modest lying through one's teeth is the true key to success.
But this human mind thrives on being torn and twisted, shred apart,
this love, this life, it's a sickness of both parties – head and heart.
We like the pain and we need the woe,
it is our fuel and our friend;
comfort a rival, palliation foe;
we must shatter and never mend.
And we tell the truth and we trust too much; we don't complain or quiver;
we hide our hurt and discomfort – denial is a beautiful river.
