Jimmy struggles to find the right words. Written for 12/28/07 DFF Challenge.
Sincerely? What is this, a letter to the editor?!

Geez, you're acting like you've never written a love letter before!

Well, actually...

Man, I've never felt this way about a girl. Ever! Why can't I finish this letter?

This sucks!

Okay, Dad said that I just have to end it with flair.

What the hell does that mean?!

And why the hell did I talk to that old man anyway?!

Respectfully.

Respectfully? What am I, a senator?!

"Aargh!"

"What's the matter?"

Jimmy peered over his shoulder at his little sister. "None of your damned business!"

Stella's eyes widened and vigorously flailed her index finger at Jimmy. "Oooh, you said a bad word! I'm gonna tell!"

"Fine!" Jimmy yelled, watching his nosy sibling run out of his room. He refocused his attention onto the parchment paper, which had been the bane of his existence for the last hour. He heard his mother trudging up the stairs.

"You're setting a bad example for your sister," Mrs. Belafonte said even before she rounded the door frame. She crinkled her nose when she entered Jimmy's room. "Did a hurricane just blow through here? You're not a teenager anymore. And, don't you have to work tonight?"

"My God, woman. Leave me alone for a minute, okay?!"

Mrs. Belafonte stood rigid and placed both hands on her hips. "As long as you are living under our roof, you will respect me and your father. Do you understand?! Do you know who's been slaving all her life to provide for you?! That's right! Yours truly. I've done nothing but--"

"That's it!" Jimmy yelled.

Yours. Truly. Jimmy.

Perfect!

Jimmy smiled, half-listened to his mother hysterically asking what he meant about "that" being "it," and gingerly folded the finished love letter into the matching parchment envelope.
