Author's Note: This collection is the one I really want to finish, but can never seem to find the words for. I've taken the advice of those who recommended against starting with a novel, and am concentrating on making it a series of short scenes from a one instead. That way I don't have to worry about carrying a narrative as much, for now.
I take fiendish delight in saying this: this is the story of a man, a woman, and a diabolical Halfling. Irony has its day. I think most of the Halflings are touched by the Lower Planes—but this one was more devilish than most. A more annoying, pestering and pilfering runt of a creature you will never find…but I digress.
In all seriousness, this is a story of bloodlines and battles, of cause and effect. It is about the inevitability of fate and the lure of hope. In the end, it is a story of the strange and convoluted path a life can take, for better or worse.
