People wondered if I was insane
Walking alone through the mist and rain,
Maybe I wasn’t all right
The world against me with all its might,
The harsh world I could not forgive
So I decided no longer to live,
Suddenly, a figure I saw in the procession
The lady said, ‘I’ll give you a lesson.’
‘A lesson of life, I’ll give away,’
Said the lady, raising her hand
I moved forward, wanting to understand,
‘What you were going to do
Would never have suited you.’
The lady continued, ‘The lesson is this
‘Never give up on life nor bliss,
‘Difficulties we all do face
‘Few come out with victory and grace.’
I comprehended her words simple
Yet they caused a ripple,
I decided one more chance at life
Maybe happiness could be rife.
