A poem about falling out of love.
I feel so lonely and independent
as I sit here
staring across the ocean.
The sun begins to rise
cutting the horizon with light splashes of color
and the feeling this brings me
relief;
(I've made it through another night)
seems to overwhelm me today.
I can do what I want
what I need
without you.
I long for your approval
but now I know
I don't need in any longer.
