MY own stab @ a World's Wife (Carol ann Duffy) style poem |
| Yellow, the flowers that filled my room To pay the ransom for the heart I stole Blue jeans bought a size you thought I was, secretly longing for the moment you'd peel them off Brown, the meat I roasted faithfully whilst you Were with her. Painting her you said Red lipstick fervently crayoned on for your return Red ribbon. Red lingerie. Gone from the cupboard You gave me black at Christmas Green grass stains on the shirts I washed for you Too cold for picnics you told me Pink. The lipstick on your collar. The acrylic pink of her smile, taunting me from the garage Golden wedding bands. Never exchanged. Not your style. Too soon. Too cheap. Too busy Her White skin. Porous canvas. The rainbow on the palette made just for your time with her. White snow, beneath our window. Now blue, green, yellow, pink Red. |
