A poem describing man in his quest of science and advancement
One Simple Time
With One Simple Plan
On a Simple Day,
In a Simple Man

An ocean breeze along with salt
Swept away Simplicity
Causing his mind to halt

No longer Simple
But full of philosophical questions
He thought of poverty-stricken homes
Luxurious mansions

He took on religion
And why truth is division
This was his mission
And the world was competition

He went to Paris
Rome and Venice
Visited the Americas
And studied the Eras

Sailed the Pacific
And the Atlantic Sea
He studied the human nature
Down to the gene

He answered every question
Except what does it mean?

He couldn’t find the answer
No matter how intellectually acute
He couldn’t win the battle
He lost footing in the dispute

More questions arose
Why, why, why?
He crumbled at the ocean's shore
And raised his head to the sky

His hands were tired from experience
As he buried them in the sand
He struggled with the difference
Between God and Man.

'Why does evil exist if happiness is Your plan?'
'Why, why, why?'
'Why can't I understand?'

Bedazzled by Earth's beauty
He walked along the shore
Chewing on life's mysteries
As he never did before

He came across a boy
Years, under eight or nine
Skinny for his age
With an innocent mind

The boy played with a bucket
Overflowing it with sea water
Then the ocean breeze back
To this once Simple Scholar

He watched the boy
Filling the container
How pointless? He thought
As he saw this behaviour

The boy seemed aggravated and confused at this
The manner which carried him astray was missed
He kept filling the bucket when it spilled from the side
Not taking into account the bucket's size

He told the boy
'You can't fill the ocean into that bucket son,
It'll spill out anyway and can never be done'

Truth was carried with the breeze when the boy replied
'Surely, Sir, you took into account the bucket's size!'

One Complex Time
With One Complex Plan,
On a Complex Day,
In a Complex Man
An Ocean breeze along with salt
Swept away complexity
Causing his mind to be free...
