Excimer laser: a type of gas laser that emits powerful pulses of ultraviolet radiation used in weapons, industrial, or medical research.

Kinetic-energy weapons (KEWs) in the form of electromagnetic rail guns need to be steerable and provided with sensors to give terminal guidance, to enable them to home in onto the targets.
