Keeping Human

there is something beautiful inside all of us.
i believe that.
this beauty is not something we can touch or hold.
it's a part of us that's soul purpose is to remind others
of how beautiful the world can be.
at our darkest moments, this beauty can emerge,
and remind others of how we are all human,
and we all share the same emotions,
we just view them through different lenses.
this beauty can flow from us, soar from us or just burst from us.
this beauty is an incandescent force that when experienced,
is entrancing and breathtaking.
and after we have experienced it enough,
we realize that we too possess this beauty.
for when we look into the eyes of another soul,
we can see our own beauty reflected back at us.

we may not realize what's happened to us,
we may get lost in the moment
and soon forget how it felt to experience someone else's beauty
in sync with our own,
but while it may be forgotten, it is never lost.
this beauty lies inside of you, waiting to be awakened.
and what keeps us alive is being able to experience beauty over and over again. whether it's reflected in the eyes of a lover or child.
whether you see it in a gorgeous sunset or the peaceful ocean.
whether you're warmed by laughter, or relieved by tears.
this beautiful something might be our very own soul.
it might be our ability to love.
it might be nothing.
it might be everything.
but whatever it is, it keeps us going.
it keeps us human.
