A poem that relates using a "Joker" (cards) with a real life situation, about me no less.
You made me pull my Joker out,
I scream until my voice goes out,
Anger that boiled within,
I aced it, thought I'd win,
But double ace is higher,
Bound me to your desire,
Lost my money and my soul,
Now you carry my heart in a box,
Every now and then you open it,
Stab it, rip it, glue it back.
I gambled my life away,
You keep it in your pocket,
And everytime I see a light,
You pull it out and drop it.

So now I've pulled my joker out,
Damaged, and beaten I am,
I wear that joker until I'm done,
At least,
That was the initial plan.

But poker's an addiction,
The Joker it's biggest player,
So with your help, look what you've done,
The Joker is now what I've become:

I felt safe, wounds healed, rejuvinated,
Crawled out of my Joker to put him down,
Happily I com back to life to see....

....Your face, more happy than me,
and to see....
Her face, replacing me.

As an alcoholic would grab the bottle,
I pulled my Joker out again,
Started back the vicious circle,
Addiction to gamble until rejuvinated,
Blinded I am,
Binded I am,
To an alimighty card, a game, a mask,
A lethal thing, helplessly needy,
The release,
If only temporary,
Gives ease,
Makes me ordinary,
So when you leave,
Like the times before,
Joker takes my soul,
And gives me strength,
A price, I'd gladly pay,
If it makes the pain go away,
The beauty of your face,
A memory I want erased,
Joker takes my place.
