Out of the Darkness and into the Light

Her little arm lay protectively over her baby sister
as the fear rolls in like a thundercloud.

His evil form stands over her bed,
she can't move, she can't scream, she can't breathe.


Her beautiful mommy will never know,
the child would die before she hurt her.

The little girl is intelligent,
She will still play, she will still love, she will still live.


She aligns her dolls and animals around her bed,
but they fail to protect her.

The knife she hides under her pillow lay idle,
she knows she is too terrified to use it.


Years pass as she silently exists.

Night after night she feels her spirit die.

She chooses to suffer alone for fear her family will fall apart.

She withdraws inside herself desperate to escape.


Life shoves on as the girl is now a woman.

She has forgiven but will never forget.

There will always be memories of the childhood that was lost.

It is a very slow process as she prays every day that she can step
