The heater is broken and Sadie and Jonathan are stuck in the snowy mountains. |
"Sadie. Please look on the bright side. At least we're together." Jonathan was trying to convince his girlfriend that their situation wasn't as dire as it appeared, but Sadie merely glared at him. He had finally convinced her to take a trip up to his family's cabin in the mountains for the weekend, but he hadn't thought to mention it to his parents, and thus was unaware that the heater in the cabin was broken. At least there was plenty of wood for the fire. Sadie, however, didn't see that as much of a consolation as she sat on the couch wearing five different layers of mittens, sweaters, and socks beneath every available blanket she could find. She was absolutely freezing. Jonathan began the task of carrying bundles of firewood inside from the back porch. Each time he opened the door, the icy breeze would rush past Sadie, causing a chill to run down her spine. Within the few seconds the door had been opened, she had noticed an icicle dangling on the edge of the roof. More were visible on the tree branches that lined the forest. This was not how she had envisioned her romantic getaway weekend with her boyfriend. Soon enough, Jonathan had a large fire burning in the fireplace, causing Sadie to rush over to the rug with all of the blankets in tow like a moth to a flame. She got as close as she possibly could without actually being in the fire. Her boyfriend snuck inside her warm blanket cocoon and wrapped his cold arms and legs around her, snuggling closer. "See. This isn't so bad," Jonathan smirked, trying to make light of the situation. "You owe me big time," Sadie grumbled, burying her head in his chest. Word Count: 294 |
