A rambling poem about that little voice we have
Inner Child

Turn off the light and see yourself
For the first time.
See the woman behind the smiles,
Behind the tears,
Behind the trials.
See the person you truly are.
Float along and be as one,
With the little girl who cries in vain.
Feel her pain, it is your own,
She is you and she’s alone.
She asks you why you never play
Out of doors on a rainy day.
Or why the snow seems colder now
And why you’ve learned to scrape and bow.
She shakes her head and wonders:
You obsess over little blunders!
When did your milk and cookies
Turn into a Vanilla No-Fat Latte?
Tears roll down her face
As she remembers your special place
Where dragons and fairys and a princess lived
And you played like life was fresh and new.
Take her hand and find the joy
In little things.
It’s all she wants,
For your soul to sing!
For you to laugh and dance and play,
Just a little,
The next rainy day.
