"Class Is In Session"

If Color did not matter, why question why I am proud,
Then almost SCREAM to point out the other part of his ancestry so loud,
If he never put that part of himself in the PUBLICS eye,
Would you be so quick to Question my support by asking why,
Did you know that I come from the SAME background too,
That my great grandfather was white just LIKE you,
The DIFFERENCE between his family and that of mine and many others,
Slaves, were most of our GRANDMOTHER’s mother,
Do I have to ask you politely in order to support this MAN,
I learned that LESS than fifty years ago a percentage of black made you an African American,
I thought it was my RIGHT to be ecstatic, that I could because I can,
This is the THIRD time my support has been questioned,
I see I am going to have to school you, so SCHOOL is in session,
I will not wait for your PERMISSION to be granted, the nerve and audacity,
I am proud of the simple fact he looks like me, for the very FIRST time in history!
Again, I point out if the president was not open about his family, and who he is from,
Would you even comment about my support of his final outcome?

I CAN support this man if I so choose too,
He looks more like ME than you,
When you experience BACKWARDS thinking people questioning everything you do,
Then I might consider YOUR point of view, possibly your comments too!
