Growing up with no parents, Madeira lives with her aunt in a fine two-story house. She is treated well and school is even finer, but the feeling that something is missing will never leave her, the feeling that she could be someone. She is shot down by society when she attempts to design an amateur building, one to fit a need for everyone.
