The reply of Creation

When I awoke
it was dark
the silence was immeasurable
all i could see was myself
and the blackness that reached on forever
I was alone here
surrounded by my thoughts
lost within myself
my mind began to wonder
as I tried to remember, but felt nothing
waiting here
maybe I had forgotten...
i began to think there was never anything to remember at all
floating through the formless darkness
who am I.
yet there was something
lost between the reaches of my subconscious
and this place
it lingered on like half forgotten words
compelling me to remember
i reached out into the emptiness
as if to catch it into existence
but it slipped through my thoughts again
and again, until nothing mattered
I retreated to the silence
letting it consume me into sleep
I dreamt of my folly
and in it was a question
but this I could not answer
it escaped me just as the reply had done
eventually i awoke
not knowing how long I had been asleep
yet it didn’t seem to matter
soon my dream began to come back to me
and i pondered its question
yet the answer still eluded me
why?
I began to feel a sense of purpose to find this answer
it drove my thoughts
becoming my obsession
time past and still I wondered
waiting for something to come
it meant everything to me
eventually i became the question itself
searching for my answer
but there was nothing here
and no reason
why.
then I saw it
it was of identity
a question of the self
a reply of relationship
what was I to this place
where had i begun
where did it end
realization came then in an instant
as if it were the only light that shone in this darkness
it rolled off my lips as I whispered
giving it life
the answer echoed out into the dark
and came back as it had begun
as a question
then the darkness faded in that instant
and at last i knew
I am the reply
