This is currently a story I am working on with a friend of mine. Enjoy!
Kaldroth walked briskly towards the Carcer Judicium, the light around him fluctuating based on his proximity to the sconces that lined the walls of the Entry Hall.  Upon his entry into the Carcer, he was immediately surrounded by inky darkness, save for the luminosity of the Council’s dais, which was situated in the center of the massive Carcer Judicium.  Kaldroth walked, very nearly gliding to the center of the room, with the dais surrounding him, as though he were in another room entirely.  The High Council gazed down upon him, a look of omnipresent scrutiny etched into each of their faces.
“Has your informant served his purpose, Kaldroth?”  General Till spoke from his position in the highest, middlemost seat on the dais.
“Indeed he has, General.” Kaldroth responded, bowing his head out of respect.
“So, the Boy has been identified, then?”  Till’s German accent weaved through his soft, deep voice, creating an air of contradictory harshness about his words.
“Not quite, but he has been localized, and I have all the necessary means to locate him.”  Kaldroth said.
“As I recall, Kaldroth, your task was to know exactly who the Boy was and where he was located, was it not?”
“With all due respect, General, the Boy does not stray outside a relatively small radius, locating him will be no difficult matter.  My informant, Albert was unable to procure further information regarding the Boy.”  General Till sat in silence for a moment, closing his eyes complacently.  The other Council Members shifted their eyes toward him, awaiting his response.  His eyelids slid open slowly, his pupils already aimed at Kaldroth.
“This informant; do you trust him?”  Till asked simply.
“He has not misinformed me to date, General.”  Kaldroth replied.
“I am not questioning the legitimacy of his information.  I am inquiring about your faith in his character.”
“Beg your pardon, General?”  Kaldroth asked, puzzled.
“Never mind, it matters not.  You are dismissed.  Continue your assignment.”  Till commanded.
“Before I leave, General, I would like to place a request.”  Kaldroth said, looking up at General Till now.
“Yes…?”  Till looked intently at Kaldroth.
“Once the Boy is located, I would like to place a request for a protectorate to be assigned to him.  I would also request that I be part of this protectorate.”  Kaldroth stated.
“I see…  Have you a particular reason for such a request?”  Till asked.
“Was it not you who said that ‘One must prepare for all contingencies to ensure success’?”  Kaldroth spoke evenly, but with the smallest hint of suspicion, undetectable to the untrained ear.  The corners of General Till’s mouth turned up slightly.
“Very well.  Your request shall be made so.  Is there anything else you require?”  Till asked.
“No, General.  Many thanks for your generosity.”  With that, Kaldroth turned and exited the circle, making his way back toward the Entry Hall.
