Parenthood’s a rollercoaster ride
only for the bravest of hearts
We hang on very desperately
once the chilling ride starts

We die thousands of deaths
with each close call or worry
Trying to catch our breaths
while ahead our children hurry

To get back in that awful line
time and time and time again
We follow them close behind
as our heart’s fail and rend

We watch them climb ahead
without fear of consequence
We hang on from the backseat
under a façade of calm pretense

Oh God! Here we go again!
Parents hold each other tight
With faith we throw up arms
and pray that they’ll be alright
