Have you ever wondered what its like? To become one of them?
You catch yourself staring at the moon.  It is full and silvery, a white isle in a sea of black.  Beautiful.  No matter how hard you try, you find its impossible to pry your gaze from it.  As strange as the notion seems, you cant help but feel that the silvery moon is staring back.  An ominous feeling churns in your gut.  It is a strange thing.  Something you cant quite put your finger on...excitement? Fear? Anticipation? Dread?
Then it starts.  The skillful plucking of a harp.  The song of luna has began.  Its quiet at first, as though coming a great distance.  An echo without a source.  The tune is discordant, haunting, and yet, oddly alluring.  It pulls at your consciousness, demanding your attention, and you submit to it. You have no other choice.  As the playing grows louder, you begin to tremble.  Your hart races, and a cold sweat forms on your brow.  Suddenly, you feel that something is very wrong.  Its as though the song is being played on a broken instrument, and that it had not always been so.  A great sorrow wells up within you, and you fall too your knees.  Wrong.  This is all so terribly wrong.  You know without doubt that this was intended as a gift, and now is corrupted beyond recognition.  Your sorrow gives way to anger, and you throw your arms wide releasing a furious yell!  Not a yell, you realize in horror.  A howl!  It lingers in the air a few moments, temporarily drowning out the song.
The world around you fades and the song returns, stronger than ever.  It is more discordant, frantic, as though the musician charged with the instrument is growing agitated, or perhaps desperate.  Each plucked string fuels your rage, until it is all you can feel anymore.  Soon all that matters is your fury.
Suddenly, and without cause, the song stops and then there is a great nothingness.  A void forms where once the endless rage was.  slowly the world comes back into view, and you hear someone gasping for air rather hoarsely.  You are confused when you realize that it is you.  As you look at your surroundings you are further confounded.  This is not a home you recognize.  The scent of blood wafts around you, and you are unnerved by the scant light given off by the embers of a nearby hearth.  Outside, a storm is threatening too break loose.  Low rumbles of thunder can be heard in the distance.  You can feel moister on your body.  It isn't like water.  Its thick, slimy.  You stair at you hands, trying to make out what the substance is in the dim light.  There is a sudden flash of lightning, and the pale bright light reveals that you are covered in blood!  Horrified you stumble backwards, and trip over something.  You land with a hard "thud", and strain your eyes in the dark to see what it was you fell over.  Another flash of lightning reveals a nightmarish scene, and you immediately wish that it hadn't.  It was only visible for a few scant moments, but the image had burned itself into your mind regardless.
A brutally mangled body.  His right eye had been gouged out, and his jaw was... missing.  His left four arm had been torn off and was laying not far from his body.  There were ...chunks... of his left bicep, shoulder, and neck, deep enough to reveal bone that were simply "gone".  A large gash going from his right shoulder to the left side of his hip exposed several jagged broken ribs.  It was as if some great beast had feast upon him.  In horror you raise a trembling hand instinctively to your mouth.  The smell of the blood on your hand is overpowering and you feel a great urge to vomit.  You stumble blind and dazed toward what you hope is an exit.  Groping at the darkness, you hope to find a wall to move along.  successful in your endeavor you slide along the wall looking for a door.  It is not long before you come to a frame and shortly after that, a cool metal handle.  You turn the handle and push the door open into the cool stormy night.  A few feet from the door you trip and fall to your hands and knees.  There you empty the contents of your stomach.  You roll onto your back, and stare up into the sky.  through the string clouds you can see a deep blue sky.  Dawn will be upon you soon.  You wish that the sun would expel you, as it would a vampire, or a troll or some other such fairy tail creature.  As you stare at the twisting clouds and the azure sky beyond, you lament that it will not.
Your eyelids grow heavy, and your last thoughts as you drift off to sleep are that:  with the next full moon, this nightmare will repeat itself, and that there is nothing you can do to stop it.
