How the values of society have been degraded over time by he younger generations |
Values Where have all of our values gone? Is it just a sign of the ages or is it something even more, when the younger generations have put no values on the respect of the wisdom of the elders. From those elders that are left, we were taught to respect another persons honor, integrity and trust. We were also taught to respect our elder’s words and not to question them openly when the elders were about least that we cause offense to their wisdom. In today’s world the younger generations are not taught these same things as we were. They feel that it is their given right to show disrespect to their elders in front of them and therefore to them their elders seem like fools for which they are not. The words and wisdom imparted by the elders should be treated in the same way that the manna was treated when it fell upon there fore-bearers from the heavens. The values of the past should not be given a religious overtone as so many always think it should. The values that have been handed by our elders and their forebears are what have made society what it was today. Only political intervention and the changing world have flawed the values of old. So to make for a better world, would it not be for the better to return to the values of old and try by what ever means there are to instill these into our younger generations. Punish where punishment is asked of, reward where reward is asked of. This being of a value or a law that is abused then punish to a fit and proper end, but while punishment is being administered means should be there to assist that person or persons to understand why and to readdress the situation. So that atonement can be made to those affected by the person or persons. Rewards for deeds done to improve or for assistance given or where things have been done to make life easier for those around us. Many beneficial things can be rewarded for, as these will make life easier for not only the receiver but also for the giver. Pride will be gained and a person’s self-confidence will be raised. This will then reflect on others in their surroundings. So in conclusion if society is to return to one of respected values by all members, then reward and punishment along with the teachings of the need to respect the words, the honor, the integrity and most of all the trust of the elders is the first and foremost objective for society today.
