Without discussing it
I crept into a corner
and turned another leaf

I didn't say how much it hurt
I didn't share my grief

I drew another picture
replaced that in my mind
and when I framed my thoughts anew

I was a place they couldn't find
right on the cusp

I was like a lotus
grown quietly in mud
I daily made it something new

And when I unfurled myself at last -
I was truly free.
