A poem about protecting a hardened and calloused heart. |
| Protected Heart by Cheryl Campbell The mystery lies within our souls of who we really are. No one knows what's hidden there or what has caused the scars. It's taken years of living life to form what is inside. And only we can know the truth that we try so hard to hide. You see a rough and hardened heart; I remember the tears. The reason for this calloused soul is hidden deep within my fears. You don't know about the heartache that defines just who I am. Through all the loss and sadness my heart has built a dam. Nothing escapes this burdened heart so carefully guarded inside. Emotions safely tucked away where no one sees me cry. © 2010 cac |
