A Poem about remembering and taking pride in the brave actions of our soldiers. |
| In a dark field On a darker night The soldier alone The tracers his light His prayers in the dark Heard only by him Answered by God Thus the new day begins Try as he might The soldier can't move Yet soon he must fight His aim must be true He unclenches his hand Lifts up his piece With a shot to the head His assailant is deceased The second man comes And he also falls Alone once again The soldier he calls To his general, his leader His people, his race Remember his name Remember his fate Remember the men With whom he has died And remember the tactics And plans that they tried And think to yourself As you lay down in bed Of the soldier who fought And for you wound up dead |
