I don't really know what inspired this, it just sort of came to me. The title says it all. |
Mirrors Never Lie Every day, he looks in the mirror, and stares at his reflection. The one that he must change; take it to a whole new direction. Everything is rearranged, Make room for happiness and cheer, No more sorrow, no more pain, No anguish or fear. He knows it's all in vain. Sadness is not an option, Anger will do. His bitterness remains in action, he just cannot be feeling blue. His pleas and cries for help replaced by a mocking laugh and snide remark. Hide it; make everyone forget that he still does have a heart. Arrogance and courage replace his shame and fears, and he forever vows to vanquish any trace of tears. Outwardly, he belittles others, though in truth he hates himself. Hide all those bad emotions, put his heart up on a shelf. Once he is satisfied, he will turn away. With a smile, now grim and taunting, he goes about his day. In the end, he returns to his mirror, and so begins the haunting, which is nothing incredible. He tries to maintain his mask, tries to avoid the inevitable. He fails at this task; his mask falls and brakes. His eternal wounds revealed, his pain too much to take. He wishes to keep up the charade, struggles to not let it die. But his reflection is not fooled. Mirrors never lie. |
