A Mirror Acrostic with a rhyme twist written for Week 1, Poetic Explorations.
In my mind's eye, I seek an alibi, Some excuse to get away, perhaps to Hatteras or Calais. Languishing spirits squeal; they pitch, they toss, they even reel. Abhor the work-grind formula, and leave behind insomnia. Needless to say I head out and then, begin an island regimen. Down at the glistening water's edge, tranquility waits, now coveted.
Time's my master, that's a fact, but leisure's a purchase I must transact. Ignoring my need to simplify leaves a bitter taste, like alkali. Meander down the beach and daydream, restore my abused self-esteem. Even through the day's worst grime, I'll always remember Island Time.
