Bonfire night

Watching

I watch
and see the bonfires burning,
leaping flames and sparks into the air.
I watch
and see the fireworks showering,
coloured lights and shapes everywhere.
I watch,
I hear the children screaming,
some in fear,some in delight.
I watch,
I feel the adults yearning,
for their childhood dreams on bonfire night.
I watch
and see the children waiting,
for their Guy Fawkes placement on the pyre.
I watch
and feel the tears streaming,
as once more I'm burned upon the fire.
