A Garland Cinquain poem about my life.
A Garland Cinquain written for Week 2, Poetic Explorations.

My life
in a nutshell
A spark, now floating free,
growing within, being nurtured.
I'm born.

Student.
With tears, I start,
commencing this journey;
interacting with friends, learning.
Knowledge.

Marriage.
I pledge to you,
a life spent together,
forever are our hearts entwined.
Passion.

Children.
The seeds of hope.
We fret, we cry, and still
family joys invigorate.
Complete.

"Grow old,"
the poet says.
"The best is yet to be."
Perhaps. But my life's journey is
fulfilled.

My life,
With tears, I start,
A life spent together,
family joys invigorate,
fulfilled.

Author Notes:
A Cinquain is a five-line poem with each line containing the following syllabic pattern: 2 / 4 / 6 / 8 / 2. A Garland Cinquain is a sequence of six cinquains in which the final cinquain is composed of lines from the preceding five stanzas (generally L1 from S1, L2 from S2, L3 from S3, etc...)

Finally, my apologies to Robert Browning, whose line is "Grow old with me, the best is yet to be." I humbly beg poetic license.

The beautiful ribbon that graces this poem was awarded by "Invalid ItemOpen in new Window., a group dedicated for sensual poets. I humbly thank them for this honor.
