The Means Will Justify

I sit at night and wondrously ponder
O’er life’s funny twists and turns.
I cannot arrest the sense of wonder
I persevere while passion burns.

My faith and hope by storms unshaken,
My ship sails on past rocky shoals.
I honor the past with words unspoken
And carry with faith eternal goals.

From a life that’s lived in earnest
From a heart both tender and strong
Comes honest courage springing foremost,
To soothe a hurt; to right a wrong.

To show more love in this hard life
To lend a hand to all my friends,
Where compassion reigns over the strife,
The means will justify the ends.
