I Surrender

I was going down a path
I never thought I’d follow. 
My life was getting tough
Things were getting hard to swallow.
I was doubting everything—
My life, my friends, my family,
My God and my King.

Things had reached a breaking point—
I felt alone and useless.
I just wanted to lay down and die.
In the moment of trial,
I fell to my knees, folded my hands
And cried, “I surrender!”

A sudden peace filled my being;
I heard a soft voice coming from my heart,
And I heard Jesus softly say:
“I surrendered.
I gave my life, I took your strife.
