About being in a concentration camp in the Holocaust. Inspired by Elie Wiesel's "Night."
This body is no longer a human

My soul left me at the gates

Memories of hope and joy

Fade with my wilting heart

All the things that I could live for

Are dead and gone forever

All the things that I could die for

Have turned on me…

…and I on them as well

Abhorrence in its purest form

Plagues my self, my world today

These scars on my innocence

They rip open and leak black fire

My conscience has fled

Apathy is my king

I will now take another breath

Of motionless, torpid air

Isn’t this the fate

Of the unbelievers? Of the pagans?

Where are the golden roads

The eternal bliss?

Haven’t I been a good Jew?
