As memories move back and forth across the landscapes of our lives,
Over rolling hills of ups ‘n downs, through rivers of desire,
Traversing snowy peaks of love, past valleys of regret,
Crossing endless grassy plains, towards horizons not seen yet,
We map out our experience along the circumference of our years,
Continents of fond nostalgia, and uncharted lands of fear,
The only constant clung to, the guiding stars at night,
Is that life is but a journey, there is no wrong or right.
Exploring worlds unseen before, unprepared and uninformed,
We pack for sunny skies without a plan for foreign storms,
Looking back at the beginning, as we set out to blaze this trail,
Never thinking where we’d land if our dreams and visions failed,
But what is failure – truly – for explorers as we are,
For behind each new discovery, success cannot be far,
Indeed, the truest goal, is knowledge of thyself,
So don’t plan the coming journey, just chart your travels well.
