The Great Dragon Adventure

On top of a large mountain there was a huge scary dragon. The mountain was beautiful with a pond full of fish and a cave full of jewels. Everyone wanted to climb the mountain, but feared the dragon. The school at the base of the mountain, St. Patrick’s, was in need to have someone climb the mountain and bring back fish from the pond and the jewels to exchange to get new books and a larger gym. No one wanted to go for they all feared the dragon. One day a boy named Luke decided to head up the mountain.

The kids and the teachers told Luke not go because of the dragon, but Luke was full of energy and loved to climb trees. He figured a mountain wouldn’t be too tough and besides he liked all the exercise. He loves to play soccer and baseball, so he thought a climb up the mountain might help him get in better shape to improve his game.

Everyone at St. Patrick’s cheered as they sent Luke off on his journey. He packed a cheese pizza, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a large bottle of Orange Crush to take with him up the mountain. His mom and dad snuck in a box of Cheerios and a gallon of milk in his Mario Brothers backpack to ensure that he would have enough energy for his trip.

It didn’t take Luke very long to climb the mountain because Luke has one speed, fast. So up the mountain he went. When he got to the top he saw the beautiful pond and began to fish. He always enjoys fishing with his dad, so he pretended he dad was with him and began to cast into the pond. He caught a fish right away, then another and another and before you knew it he caught one thousand blue gills. It would have been more, but a few slipped off the hook.

Now it was time to find the jewels. Luke started running all over the mountain top looking for the cave full of jewels. He saw a frog and asked the frog, “How much longer until I get to the cave?” The frog said Grrbit and hopped away. He stopped when he saw a squirrel and asked the squirrel, “How much longer until I get to the cave?” The squirrel ignored the red headed young man and continued to eat his acorn. Luke saw several other animals along his path and asked, “How much longerrrrr?”

He finally came upon a troll and asked him the same question. The troll said, “It’s right behind the big tree and up that hill, but don’t go there because there’s a mean dragon that sits at the entrance.”

Luke thought about it and was a little scared, but he knew his mom and dad and everyone at St. Patrick’s was counting on him, so away he went. Luke crept up to the cave and sure enough with a big thump the dragon jumped right in front of Luke. “Tartar sauce!” exclaimed Luke.

The dragon bent down, looked Luke right in the eye and said, “stay away from cave or I will eat you up”. Luke looked back at the dragon and gave a big smile as only Luke can do.

“Oh c’mon”, said Luke. “I just want to be your friend.” No one ever wanted to be the dragon’s friend before and the dragon always wanted a buddy. The dragon stared at Luke who was still smiling.

“Since you’re my new friend you can go in the cave and have anything you want,” said the dragon.
“Even the Pokemon cards,” asked Luke.

“Sure”, said the dragon.

“Awesome,” said Luke. “Maybe after I’m done we can play together.”

“Okay,” said the dragon.

Luke grabbed everything in the cave and with the fish ran down the mountain as fast as he could. He brought all the goods to the people of St. Patrick’s. Everyone cheered and someone handed Luke an ice cream cone.

“Ummmm vanilla, my favorite,” said Luke. “Thank you Mrs. Sulla.”
