Now this is problem solving... |
The Trap Eve opened her eyes to the darkness of a black shroud that covered her. The room was quiet, much different from the busy night before. She knew it was morning; her clock radio was playing softly beside her. She feared leaving the safety of her covering. Her hand has healed but she could still remember the effect of the sun as it seared her flesh down to her bones. She called out, “Martin. Martin, are you out there?” No answer, just that soft music. * * * Hours later she heard a sound, “Martin, is that you?” “Yea and I brought help. We’re going to stop Gunter and free you from this curse.” She felt hands lifting her and start to move her out of the front door. “Where are we going, where are you taking me?” “The top of the Moses fire tower!” “But… That’s where he bit me!” “And that’s where this will all end!” * * * They placed Eve’s body on a bench. They unzipped the bag and she discovered they had built a black canvas cover over the entire deck. As the shadow of the sunset crept up the side of the tower, they could hear Gunter’s screams of furry as he raced up the stares. He would have Eve and make her, his own. Gunter emerged from the steps, ignoring the temporary canvas shroud and stared at Eve. Dried blood stained his shirt and lips, his blood red eyes burned into Eve’s. Two of the men pulled on ropes, heavily weighted bags started racing down the side of the tower and ripping the blackened canvas away as they zipped Eve’s shroud shut. The last two minutes of sun put Gunter’s body to flame, all his flesh boiled and dripped from his bones. W.C. = 300 |
