Draw the Line

A poem of failed inspiration.

                                          Draw the Line

                                    It's enough when
                                    the inspiration inside
                                    your head doesn't
                                    make the connection
                                    onto a keyboard or
                                    pen and paper.
                                     
                                    The music is too
                                    long, too short for
                                    you to dip inside the
                                    well of its rhythm
                                    for guidance.

                                    Every line is erased
                                    before it could ever
                                    begin in the first place.
                                    No spark to blossom,
                                    catch and hold on.
                                     
                                    I draw the line
                                    at this and so
                                    many other times
                                    I want to give up---
                                    relinquish this burden
                                    of being a writer once
                                    and for all.
