At attempt to put my life into a song.
[Panorama]

the wind licks my cheek by the grass we rolled down
there’s an echo of a place where promises count
alone with the longest shadow this side of town
rolling hills, call me home

we’d disappear into fables at the sound of a word
pedaling bicycles to a car we could afford
wave away cigarette smoke and talk to our Lord
concrete castles, lead me home

and now, I’ve waited all these years
for me to come home

my pockets as empty as my mind is full
torn ticket stubs laid out by the kitchen stool
the midnight washes over a pencil, dull
shivering rain, bring me home

sweat stains my shirt, now homeward bound
i’ve leapt off this train into a dust cloud
thinking i’d find more than a ghost town
beaming trees, fool me home

and now, I’ve waited all these years
for me to come home

my loose-skinned hands will wipe the dirt off the porch swing
to stare at the lawn selling off the rest of my dreams
i close my eyes and picture the birds singing
jesus, call me home
